The building - the entrance was the topic of strong aesthetic and political debate, firstly because the design, a the modern style edifice was inconsistent with its classic historical surroundings, secondly because pyramids where a symbol of death, thirdly the project was deemed a pretentious megalomaniacal folly by the countries current leader, and lastly the architect was Chinese-American insufficiently local to be entrusted with constructing this treasure.
